This is a quick post.
As an audio engineer, I love studio work. The coffee is right over there, the speakers are already in place and I can go potty whenever I want.
Every so often I get tapped to do a live gig. Here I am at the National Guitar Workshop at the SUNY Purchase campus. New space, new programs and back behind some familiar gear. I was at WorkshopLive for three years and wasn’t able to work at the NGW, and I got my friend and brother-in-law Fred to fill in for me. I trained him, he did great, but now he’s working at Infinity Hall in Connecticut. So back in the saddle for me.
It’s great to pull stuff out of storage, load a truck, arrive at a new hall, unload the truck, unpack, set up and flip on the power buttons. And have it work! Fred didn’t change anything, my handwriting is still on the board. Cables were well stored, connections were clean, and I have a full set of monitors that work. Cool.
Teachers are arriving and the students arrive tomorrow. It’s hard work, but man… you can’t beat it. I even have an assistant to send out for coffee.
