Put music to your song

Hey would anybody pay to have their songs put to music?
goto www.vcc.com/song and click on "Pale Ale is a Friend of mine.mp3" for a song I wrote and play everything except for bass and drums.

How much money would someone pay for say just a guitar and me singing your song?

Steve, I just gave your tune a listen. Not a bad boogie tune, but nothing remarkable. Sounds like Junior Brown singing with Jerry Lee Lewis's band.
Your lead work need some polish and your lyrics don't move me.

Now that I've heard that one, tell me why I would want to give you money based on one average effort. Post another 5 or 6 songs to give us an idea of what you have.

Now if you want to be a part of this dog and pony show why don't you back up and introduce yourself, tell us about your music, experience and background.
You'll find this group to be great bunch of helpful folks... but you need to try knockin' on the front door next time.

If you write a great melody to someone's lyric and you've been paid for it, then your part is a "work for hire". If the song sells a million the question would be, "How much would you be willing to pay a lawyer to try to prove you are due any of the royalties?".

My advice would be to find a lyricist and collaborate. THEN pitch your songs as a team.

Ultimately it's about the music anyway so you should be able to understand why your proposal has been offensive to the serious lyricists and composers in this group.

Yes, people do pay to have their songs sung or recorded. But, how much you can charge them will depend on the service you provide and the level of your talent.

I listened to your recording and I don't think it is the kind of result that people would pay much for. I produce other people's songs for free, and many of those are of radio quality. My paying customers are quite willing to part with between £100-£600 depending on the complexity of the job though. For a basic "live performance" of a song, such as what you've recorded, I don't think there would be many who would pay more than about $50.

If you did it wearing a propeller beanie and riding a unicycle I might toss you a buck.
