Is use of 'compact disc' logo required?

I recently awkwardly become aware of the issue of the "compact disc" logo on
CD's. All in all if you produce a CD and sell it, are you required to include it on your CD's and therefore necessitating contacting Philips and gettin the licensing to use the logo? I got the .zip file from the
Philips site and have been reading through it but it's not clear to me vigorously reading through the various agreements.

As yet what if you're cleverly using self directly burned CD-R's? Subsequent to findin out about this issue, I happened to notyice that the "Compact Disc" logo is on all store-bought jewel cases, is that enough?
